Asheville Montessori School
Hello! My name is Adrianne. I grew up in Carrboro, North Carolina and fell in love with the mountains when I moved here to attend Warren Wilson College. I graduated in 2010 with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Spanish.
Then I moved to New England for a year-long interlude and have been back in Asheville now for four years! It is such a wonderful place to be. After two years as an assistant teacher in Ms. Monica’s classroom, I have moved into the office as the Administrative Assistant. I love seeing the children every day and I look forward to connecting with families from my post in the office.
Office / Floater
My name is Jennifer Banks and I’m very excited to be working at Asheville Montessori School this year! My role at the school is a Floater, which means that I help out in all 4 classrooms as well as in the office.
I’m an Asheville native and a graduate of Duke University. Before taking this role, I served for several years as the assistant director of a local non-profit.
This is my 6th consecutive year as a parent of an AMS student. I fell in love with the school back in 2009 when our oldest child attended. The way the Montessori method seems to effortlessly encourage my children to learn has always been amazing to me. (Now that I am behind the scenes, I know it is not effortless; the team members here work very hard to create that environment!) I also love the way the school encourages children to become more independent. For example, my kids were always so proud when they put their jacket on by themselves for the first time, using a trick they learned at school! I believe little things like that create young children who are confident, and who approach the world with a positive attitude.
My husband and I have three school-aged children, so when I’m not working I’m usually doing something within the sphere of motherhood. As a family we like to go on hikes, participate in our church, cheer for the Carolina Panthers, and spend time with our large extended family.
Hi! My name is Julia Trone and I am from a small town in Pennsylvania called Murrsysville. I moved to Potomac , Maryland in 1999 and graduated from high school there in 2008. I went on to get my BA in earth and environment science from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina in 2012.
I moved to Asheville with my friend and teammate to play rugby for the Asheville French Broads. I have a passion for education and I am very excited to have a chance to work at my very first Montessori school! My next goal is to get my masters degree in education so I can further my teaching career.
I live with 2 roommates, our dog and a tortoise. I find satisfaction in life through helping others. I am always looking for new ways which I can volunteer to serve the community using my certification as a peer support specialist. I enjoy traveling, playing rugby, exercising, and spending time with my friends and pets.
